Ideal for those that want to see a lot in a short space of time, taking in the highlights of the ring road. You will drive the classical circle route along the rugged coastline and glacial valleys; visit some of Europe’s biggest waterfalls and cross volcanic landscape.

      Day 1 – Arrival in Iceland

      Departure from UK. Pick up the rental car at the airport. Depending on your arrival time, you may want to visit the Blue Lagoon on your way from the airport, just 15 minutes driving distance. Drive to Reykjavik and check in at your hotel in the city. Explore Reykjavík at leisure.

      Overnight the stay in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Hotel Reykjavík Saga, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.

      Day 2 – Reykjavík – Borgarfjörður
      Explore the scenic Whale fjords and saga valley of Borgarfjörður with its waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites. You will have the option to see Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls as well as Europe's most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver.

      Overnight stay in West Iceland, Fosshótel Hellnar, Fosshótel Stykkishólmur, Fosshótel Reykholt or similar.

      Day 3 – Sights of North and West Iceland
      On your way up north, stop at the historical site Glaumbær turf farm. Upon arrival at Akureyri, explore the town which is called the capital of North Iceland. Goðafoss, the waterfall of the gods is not far away. Take your time to discover the sights at lake Mývatn and the nearby hot spring areas such as Mývatn Nature Baths.

      Overnight in North Iceland, Fosshótel Húsavík, Fosshótel Mývatn Hotel KEA or similar.

      Day 4 – Head to East with visit to Dettifoss
      Drive on Tjörnes peninsula and visit Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss. It is 44m high and at least 200-700 tons of water discharges per second.

      Overnight stay in the Eastfjords, Fosshótel Eastfjords or similar.

      Day 5 – Scenic fjords of East Iceland
      Drive along the scenic fjords of east Iceland and enjoy the small fishing town of Höfn with its cozy atmosphere. Head south and explore Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and Skaftafell National Park.

      Overnight stay in the South East, Fosshótel Núpar, Hótel Hali, Fosshótel Vatnajökull or similar. Option to upgrade to the 4 star Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon, subject to availability.

      Day 6 – Natural Wonders – South Shore
      Drive along the south coast and witness many natural wonders such as black lava beaches, waterfalls and glaciers. The folk museum at Skógar is well worth a visit, it is close to the impressive Skogarfoss waterfall.

      Overnight stay in South Iceland at Hotel Stracta or similar.

      Day 7 – Golden Circle – Reykjavík
      Your first stop should be at Þingvellir national park, a UNESCO world heritage site. The park rests in a valley created by the power of the tectonic plates that are slowly drifting apart. Keep on driving to Haukadalur hot spring area where you will see several hot springs, the most active being the geysir Strokkur, which erupts every 10 minutes. The next stop is the Gullfoss waterfall (golden waterfall). This waterfall falls in two cascades into a narrow and deep gorge. Further on in your trip will you visit the church and historical site of Skálholt before heading on to the volcanic crater Kerið.

      Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Hotel Reykjavík Saga, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.

      Day 8 - Departure
      Depending on your flight time you might want to spend the morning exploring Reykjavík or taking a dip in the Blue Lagoon on your way to the airport. If you have a morning flight, you can visit the Blue Lagoon on your arrival day. Note, the Blue Lagoon must be pre-booked prior to departure as it does get fully booked. We can help you with this!

      Drive back to Keflavik airport and return the car.
