Aurora Hunt and Glacier Lagoon

    • A 5-day tour in winter wonderland Iceland where, in addition to visiting the most famous places in the country, we will also hunt for the magnificent Northern Lights. This is a real adventure of a tour including such highlights as the famous Geysirhot spring area, the Glacier lagoon, beautiful waterfalls and much more. We will stay in a hotel located in the countryside and will use the opportunity away from street lights to observe the wonders of the Northern Lights.

      Highlights

      • Hunt for the magnificent Northern Lights
      • Experiencing Iceland most famous places such as Geysir hot spring area, the Glacier Lagoon and Þingvellir National Park
      • Enjoy Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland
      • Optional visit to the Blue Lagoon
    • Tour Itinerary

      Day 1 - Reykjavík

Arrival at Keflavík International airport, non guided transfer by bus to your hotel in Reykjavík. Enjoy your night in Reykjavík, we will send you plenty of information on the "must sees" in the city.

Overnight stay in Reykjavík, including breakfast.

Day 2 - The Golden Circle and South Shore

This morning, you will meet your guide and the rest of the tour group you will spend the next 3 days with. Meeting is at the hotel reception at 8:45 am.

First, we tour the renowned Golden Circle including a visit to the National Park and Rift Valley at Þingvellir where the North American and European tectonic plates are drifting apart. Þingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930. Then we head for the famous Geysir hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts every few minutes. We also visit Gullfoss the largest two-stepped waterfall in Iceland. After visiting these world famous sights we continue to a local horse stable and a greenhouse where they grow organic tomatoes all year round. We drive through the landscapes of south Iceland to our accommodation near the town of Vik, where we stay for 2 nights at Hotel Katla. If weather permits, we head for a Northern Lights hunt, the guide chooses the night based on the prospects.

Stay 2 nights in the Vík area in South Iceland, including breakfast.

Day 3 - Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

We head east, along the southern shore to the unique Jökulsarlón Glacier Lagoon. The lagoon developed around 60 years ago with continuous process of calving and falling of icebergs from the glacier tongue Breidamerkurjökull. These icebergs are seen in two shades, one type in milky white, while the other type is in bright blue colour, which is an interplay of light and ice crystals. The lagoon is filled with fishes that drift in from the sea along with the tides. Seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the lagoon to catch the fish during winter, which is a sight to be seen. On the way back to Vik, we also visit Skaftafell national park.

Day 4 - Volcanoes, Waterfalls and Blue Lagoon

Driving along the southern coast we encounter highlights such as the waterfalls Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss, as well as the glaciers and volcanoes of Mýrdalsjökull/Katla and Eyjafjallajökull. We will visit the new and exciting Lava Centre which is an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcano activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years.

The final highlight before getting back to Reykjavik is the spectacular Blue Lagoon. You have a choice of viewing the lagoon or enjoying soaking in the mineral rich water with its fine silica mud (bathing admission not included and must be pre-booked). In the late afternoon, we arrive in Reykjavik, where you will stay for your last night.

Overnight stay in Reykjavík, including breakfast.

      Day 5 - Departure

Transfer from the hotel in Reykjavík to Keflavik airport or extend your stay and stay longer to enjoy the northernmost capital of the world.
